Pasticci/Messing around

A friend of mine asked for some greeting cards, and once I saw Daniela's blog I could not help experimenting... the wild slushing technique!

I don't have Distress pads, though, and I turned to Kaleidacolor and Impress.

Although the effect is different, I like it... I have a lot of time to practice and mess around with colours!

How often does it happen that you hava to make a present and you haven't got any card ready? When you are a stamper, relatives and friends ask you for cards for a special occasions (Laura, my husband's official supplier, knows what I'm talking about : )
Some days ago, my mum asked me to make a graduation card, and here is the result.

Dovrò ricordarmene a Natale...

From the pictures it seems bigger than it really is 10,5 x 7 cm, isn't it?
A card collection for any occasion could be the perfect birthday present next time, what do you think: isn't it a very good idea? I must remember it at Christmas...

A very simple and fast Birthday card, although painting those cute mice takes time ('cheesecake parade', Penny Black)

Ma dove stanno andando?
Where are they going?

To celebrate the little girl of the house, of course. And she is three today!

Tanti auguri, Agata : )

Portauncinetti tunisino/ Tunisian crochet hook holder

Materiale occorrente

- 85 gr di cotone n. 3
- uncinetto tunisino n. 3,5
- tessuto fantasia per la fodera interna
- 2 coppie di bottoni automatici
- ago e filo di cotone in tinta

Materials

- 85 gr cotton #3
- tunisian crochet hook #3,5
- fabric for the lining
- 2 couple of automatic bottons
- needle and yarn

Punti impiegati
- maglia tunisina semplice

Stitches
- tunisian simple stitch

Avviate 50 catenelle e lavorate a maglia tunisina semplice per 60 maglie.

Cast on 50 chains stitches and work tunisian simple for 60 rows.

You will have a 27 cm x 23 cm rectangle.

Iron the crocheted work and the fabric for the lining.

Fold the fabric edges and iron them.

Sew the fabric on the reverse side of the tunisian work.
Then, make the hook pocket using the same cotton thread: cast on 50 chain stitches and work tunisian simple stitch for 20 rows. Sew this crocheted stripe on the internal lower edge of the crocheted rectangle.

Sew the vertical line on the lower pocket, being sure the dimension suits your hooks.

To obtain an upper pocket, sew a couple of automatic buttons on the top of the lining.

Sew on the fabric all the accessories you need: in this case, I attach a little snap-hook for my thread cutter pendant.

With the same cotton make a 60 cm long string.

Cucitelo ad un’estremità del portauncinetti.

Sew it on one edge of the crochet hook holder.

Put your hooks in the holder, button up the upper pocket, roll up the holder and wind string to close it.
Voilà! you will never ever loose your precious crochet hooks!

If can see your baby wearing traditional bonnets with flowers and lace no longer, this multi-coloured hat will suit you perfectly!
(Guess who is the model : )

- ferri n. 3
- uncinetto n. 2,5
- ago da lana
- pochi grammi di imbottitura sintetica

Materials required (for 3-4 months baby; head diameter 40-42 cm)

- 45 gr. of wool for 3-3,5 knitting needles in those colours: sky-blue, yellow, violet, dark green, orange, light green
- knitting needles #3
- crochet hook #2,5
- tapestry needle
- a few grams of fiberfill for stuffing

Punti impiegati

- con i ferri: maglia legaccio
- con l’uncinetto: catenella, maglia bassissima, maglia bassa, mezza maglia alta, punto gambero (facoltativo)

Stitches

- with knitting needles: garter stitch
- with crochet hook: chain stitch, slip stitch, double crochet, half treble crochet, treble crochet, left handed stitch.

Cast on 82 stitches using the sky- blue yarn and make garter stitch for 4,5 cm.
Then leave the knitting needles and keep the crochet hook; alternate 1 row on double crochet with 1 row at this way: *2 half treble crochet, 1 chain stitch, jump 1 base chain*.

Fee free to change colour at every row; make 25 rows without increasing or decreasing.

Hide all the cut threads and sew on reverse the short edges.

Reverse the work on the right side and sew the top edge with a cross shape, like shown in the above image.

Make 4 balls of different colours for the top of the hat:

row 1: make 4 double crochets in a loop and close the row with a slip stitch
row 2: make 2 double crochets in every base stitch; close the row with a slip stitch (tot 8 stitches)
row 3: make 1 increase of 2 base stitches each; close the row with a slip stitch (tot 12 stitches)
row 4: double crochet without increasing; close the row with a slip stitch (tot 12 stitches)
row 5: make a decreasing of 2 double crochet each; close the row with a slip stitch (tot 9 stitches)
Row 6: stuff the ball with fiberfill and go on with double crochet making a decreasing 2 base stitches each until the end. Close the row with a slip stitch and cut the thread leaving it a little bit long, so you can use it to sew the ball on the hat.

Attach the balls to the top of the hat, hide all the cut threads and, if you like, make a left handed stitch row on the base of the hat with the yellow yarn.

In the end, you will bring a little bit of rainbow in any rainy day...

Che fine ha fatto l'orchidea?/ What about the orchid?

There could be someone out there like cinzia who is wondering about my orchid. Do you remember it?
At the beginning of December, it was like that.

Poi dopo un mese era così.
One month later, it was like that.

E adesso?

And now? I really don’t know what is going on... 4 buds are withered and some new are growing. Will any of them blossom?

Si accettano scommesse.
Do your bets.
