I haven't post a knitting project for quite some time now, and Christmas was the perfect occasion to go back to this beautiful hobby of mine. I made a Zig Zag scarf for my mother in law with two 100 gr balls of Schoppel wolle Crazy Zauberball in the following colors: Submarine boat and Tropical fish.
I used 3.5 needles and I started with 86 stitches. The scarf final dimension was 174 x 26 cm.
You can find the project kit on UAB Style online shop.

When I go to the yarn shop I usually don't have a crocheting or knitting project in my mind.
Most of the time, I'm interested in the new arrivals and I wait for a fluffy yarn ball to catch my attention.
As it happens, it usually looks at me with its rounded big eyes and I can not resist (if I'd work in a kennel/cattery/hamster house I'll be doomed!).
I take it home with me (sometimes with some of its brothers) and after a couple of years it comes out of the cocoon like a beautiful shawl/scarf, like this "dragon tail".

Ferri: n. 3,5

Pattern: "Beatrice tuch" or "Dragon tail" or "Nautilus" (you can find it with several names, I chose this picture to knit it)
Yarn: one yarn ball of Shoppel Wolle Zauberball color #2365
Knitting needle: #3,5

It's quite a simple project, even for a newbie like me!
The pattern helps to count the rows and to remember where you must make the reductions for the pointed tips.

A suggestion: when you wash it, DO NOT BLOCK IT as usual, but let it dry flat, otherwise you can say goodbye to the wrinkles (bad experience, trust me). At most, you can spray the pointed tips, to make them stand out the work.

Un arcobaleno in testa / A rainbow on my head

It was 2013, when I knitted me my last hat.
Time to upgrade my winter outfit and a perfect excuse to show one of the beautiful yarn balls that lays in my drawers (several drawers, to be honest).

I chose Katharina Nopp's Wurm model: you can find many color variations on line.

The result is so soft and elastic, that it suits perfectly me and my daughter (my model for the pictures).

I added a couple of colored stripes to the original pattern to highlight the natural color variation of the yarn.

I used 100% extrafine merinos wool: dark gray Ottocapi Lana Gatto and Zauberball 100 color 2249.
Circular knitting needle #3,5 for the initial band; #4 for the gray stripes; #3 for the colored stripes.

Aspettando la primavera / Waiting for the Spring

Despite the clear and sparkling air of the last few days, I don't buy it, I know Spring is far to come.
My son agrees with me and he asked for a new hat to wear in his morning walk to school.

Risultato garantito!
Easy peasy! This pattern is very simple, even for a knitting rookie like me.
I followed Italian Monica Furio's video tutorial, and it is all very clear.

Card nascita a rotella / Baby wheel card

Here there is the card I made for the Lawn Fawnatics Challenge #37: SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW! (Link to products at the end of the post).

This project was perfect to celebrate Pietro (aka Benny), the latest baby born cousin.

The card was associated to a baby cap I knitted with mohair wool and circular needles.
I love baby caps, they are so sweet!

Bergamo: Creattiva (Autunno 2017)

Quanta gente a Creattiva domenica scorsa!!
What a crowd at Creattiva last sunday! I'v never seen so many people at a last day of a fair!
As always, my reportage is focused on patchwork, stamping (with lots of Magnolia projects) and wood, thanks to the brand new pavilion dedicated exclusively to this beautiful material.
