Mercatini / Second hand markets

I cannot tell you why, but I think that what pushes me into every little second hand market I come across is a primary thrust.
When I see one, I easily loose myself in it. And I always find something worth buying, telling my husband that it is for the family budget. Knowing me very well, I know he knows that it is a condition without a cure (one of many...)

I couldn't miss a visit to the new market in my block! And that was a great visit, because I found a weaving game almost complete (the wool yarns are missing, but we have tons : ).
And a tunisian hook and some needles, all for a few euros.

Before leaving the place, I remembered to ask for stamps for children (for children, sure...), and when the girl on the desk mumbled for a couple of minutes, I hold my breath.
She told me about something in the basement, something she used to play with when she was a girl. Stamps with alphabet letters and animals. She asked me to come back in the evening.
ALPHABET LETTERS, AND NOT STUPID STAMPS WITH BEARS?!?
I could not believe it. I spent the next hours to imagine them broken, hardened by dry ink, or partially lost in an old drawer...

But when I saw them, I understood I was under my luky star: the set was complete and in a very good shape, despite the time and the kid's use. The stamps were exactly the same I played with when I was a girl, the one I gave away to some cousin of mine.
That day, 10 euros donated me 30 stamps and a pure childhood joy.

A quick scrub with a tooth brush and a bit of dish soap, and they were brand new again.

A pure collector could worn me that they have not value without the original box. And maybe he would be right, if I had to sell them.

E ho ripreso a respirare normalmente.
Obviously, I could not resist: I took my Versafine black pad and I printed one with a lot of details.
Then I hold my breath again.

Bellissimi quei timbri ....
    Buona giornata, Giulia
