Qualche tempo fa ero rimasta molto
entro l'autunno.
Some time ago a Simple Vintage
Girl’s post made my bee dance a lot... (her photos leave me always
astonished), and I've been very curious about the future of the
seeds.
This spring, I tried to do that
experiment myself, and this tutorial tells you how to get a little
personal harvest for the autumn.

Per prima cosa vi occorre un uovo
svuotato, fresco o usato che sia (ad esempio rimasto da una cottura
alla coque).
At first you need an empty egg,
either fresh or cooked.
The main thing is a hole you must
make at the bottom of the shell.

You can use a pencil to write the
name of the plant on the shell: it’s very practical if you manage
more than one kind of seeds.

You can use an egg box as a
mini-greenhouse, although a glass can keep a good humidity level
better.

Questa volta è toccato ai pomodori
ciliegini.
If you prefer, you can buy the seeds
to plant, but I prefer to make experiments with fruits I can find on
my table, excpecially if I can put my hands on a very good one (and
it is a very interesting naturalistic lesson if you have kids).
This time I used cherry tomato
seeds.

Smash a little bit of fruit pulp on
a paper napkin and let it dry, to avoid mildew.

Peel off the dried seeds, and don’t
worry about some paper remains: it is perfectly biodegradable in the
ground (other is if you want to get a good shot for your blog : )
Choose a fat seed...

... and put it at the
center of the egg, full covered by soil. Give it water and have
patient.
Ora arriva la parte più delicata:
dovrete prendervene amorevolmente cura, evitando che appassisca per
la mancanza d’acqua o l’insolazione eccessiva.
After some days you will see two
tender leaves. Now you have to give them all your love, and protect
them from the hot sun and dryness.

After 2-3 weeks you will have a beautiful plant. This is the time to put it in a real vase.

The practical thing is: you avoid
any risk of hurting the plant during the transplant. Only, remember
excert a light pressure onto the shell to break it to help the roots
to go trought it.
Now, you can put the plant and the
egg together inside the soil in this way.

Or you can peel off the shelf pieces
(if you can do this operation easily), and put the plant in the vase
with roots perfectly intact.
In ogni caso, la vostra piantina vi
ringrazierà per averle dato una nuova casa, si spera premiandovi con
tanti bei frutti polposi : )
Anyway, your offspring will be happy
for the new home, and if you're lucky, it will show you her love by
giving lots of juicy fruits : )
